Digital Brightlingsea is working with Pens & Dragons CIC to run a free practical workshop for young people interested in design, media, marketing and creative work.
The workshop will take place at The Dragon’s Nest in Brightlingsea on Monday 10 August, from 10.30am to 1.30pm.
Participants will take a real digital advert through the complete process, from the first idea through to seeing the finished design appear on advertising screens around Brightlingsea.
During the session, we will look at:
- How to turn an idea into a clear advertising message
- What makes a digital advert effective
- Common problems such as too much text, poor contrast and unclear messaging
- Designing an advert using Canva or PowerPoint
- Testing the design on a real portrait advertising screen
- Exporting and uploading the finished artwork
- Publishing the advert on the Digital Brightlingsea network
The session will be led by Mat Court from Digital Brightlingsea and Grassroot Media.
No previous design or advertising experience is needed, and attendees do not need to have taken part in any previous Pens & Dragons activities.
The workshop is best suited to young people aged approximately 13 to 25. It may particularly appeal to anyone interested in design, writing, photography, social media, content creation, marketing or communications.
As well as being a creative activity, the session will provide genuine practical experience. Those attending will help produce something for a real audience and will be able to see the finished work appearing on screens around the town.
