One league, one trophy and a growing charity fund
The Brightlingsea Community Fantasy Football League is returning for its third season. Entry is £10 per team and the competition is open to everyone, regardless of where they live or whether they have a connection to Brightlingsea.
Over the first two seasons, the league raised more than £500 for groups and charities. Every entry increases the amount that will be distributed to good causes at the end of the season.
The Sue Walsh Community Fantasy Football Trophy
The trophy was introduced in memory of Sue Walsh and the support she gave to the Brightlingsea Community FPL League.
Dan Glozier is the current holder and will retain the trophy until the new champion is confirmed at the end of the 2026/27 season.
The new overall winner will hold the trophy for one year. The trophy remains the property of the Brightlingsea Community FPL League and must be returned ahead of the following season.
Alongside the trophy, the league will create a series of charitable prize allocations. Each successful manager will choose an eligible charity, group, club, voluntary organisation or other good cause to receive their allocation.

You can enter before settling on a final team name, but you must provide it once your team has been created.
Pay £10 per team
You can pay by bank transfer or cash.
One payment can cover several teams, provided you tell Mat the name of every team covered by the payment.
For example, 3 teams can be entered with one payment of £30.
Receive the league code
Once payment has been confirmed, the private league code will be sent directly to you.
Join through the official Fantasy Premier League website or app, then confirm once your team appears in the league.

How the prizes will work
The final prize structure will depend on the number of teams entered
We will confirm the number of prizes and the value of each charitable allocation once we know how many teams are taking part and how much money has been raised.
The plan is for approximately 25% of participating teams to earn a prize. In simple terms, we want roughly 1 team in every 4 to finish the season with the opportunity to support a good cause of their choice.
Because it is not possible to award a fraction of a prize, the final percentage may sit slightly above or below 25%.

Our aim is for approximately 1 in 4 paid teams to receive a charitable prize allocation.
Chosen good causes
Each prize winner will choose an eligible local or national group, charity, club, voluntary organisation or other good cause to receive their allocation.
Prize allocations will not be paid personally to entrants. The full entry fund and Bob’s £150 sponsorship contribution will be distributed to the chosen good causes, with no administration costs deducted.
Brightlingsea Community FPL League 2026/27 rules
- Entry costs £10 per team.
- The competition is open to everyone. Entrants do not need to live in or have a connection to Brightlingsea.
- Entrants may enter as many teams as they wish. Each team is treated as a separate entry and requires a separate £10 payment.
- There will be 1 main classic league and 1 cup competition, played through the official Fantasy Premier League game.
- Payment must be received before the private league code is issued.
- Entries will be accepted throughout the season, provided Fantasy Premier League still allows the team to join the league.
- Anyone entering after the season has started accepts that their eligibility for the official Fantasy Premier League cup or any other time limited competition will depend on the official Fantasy Premier League rules and when they join.
- It is each entrant’s responsibility to create their team, join the correct league and comply with the official Fantasy Premier League rules.
- The final standings displayed by Fantasy Premier League will determine the league positions, including any official tie break applied by Fantasy Premier League.
- Each paid team is treated as a separate entry and may win a prize, including where the same person has entered more than 1 team.
- A person who enters several teams may win more than 1 prize if more than 1 of their teams finishes in a qualifying position.
- The overall league winner will receive the Sue Walsh Community Fantasy Football Trophy for 1 year.
- The Sue Walsh Trophy remains the property of the Brightlingsea Community FPL League and must be returned when requested ahead of the following season.
- The exact prize structure will be determined once the number of paid entries is clearer.
- The intention is for approximately 25% of participating paid teams to receive a charitable prize allocation.
- The final proportion may sit slightly above or below 25% because it is not possible to award a fraction of a prize.
- Prize categories are expected to include league positions and, where practical, Fantasy Premier League cup positions. The final categories will be confirmed and published by the organiser.
- The value of the different charitable prize allocations will be decided once the overall entry fund and prize structure are known. The allocations do not have to be equal.
- Each prize winning team gives its manager the right to nominate an eligible charity, community organisation, voluntary group, club or other legitimate good cause to receive the relevant allocation.
- A chosen beneficiary may be local or national.
- Prize allocations will be paid to the chosen beneficiaries and will not be paid personally to entrants.
- The full entry pot and any money donated or sponsored specifically for the prize fund will be divided between the charitable prize allocations. There will be no personal cash prize and no administration costs will be deducted.
- Any physical trophies, medals or other items awarded to entrants will be funded separately or donated and will not be deducted from the charitable prize fund.
- Each prize winner must nominate their chosen beneficiary within 28 days of the final prize positions being confirmed.
- If a prize winner does not make a nomination within that period, the organiser may select an appropriate beneficiary so that the money is not held indefinitely.
- Entry fees will not normally be refunded once the league code has been issued, as the payment will already have been included within the fundraising total.
- Entrants are responsible for keeping their Fantasy Premier League account active and informing the organiser if their team name changes.
- Any exceptional circumstances or matters not covered by these rules will be decided by the organiser fairly and in the spirit of the community competition.

How the money is managed
All entry fees are held separately in a dedicated bank account in the name of the organiser, Matthew Court.
The account is used solely for the Brightlingsea Community FPL League.
Bob Walsh has also committed £150 to the prize fund in memory of Sue. 100% of this contribution will be distributed to the good causes chosen by the prize winners.
The full entry pot and sponsorship contribution will be divided between the charitable prize allocations, with no administration costs deducted.
